MasterCard PayPass

I just saw a commercial for the MasterCard PayPass and I’m really curious to try it. Supposed to be as safe as a regular credit card, it saves time by letting you pass the card *near* the reader instead of swiping it and a signature isn’t required for small transactions (under about $25.)

    While I haven’t tried the Paypass, I did have a mobile quickpay (or whatever it was called) for a while. YOu just pass it in front of the gas pump and get started. It’s funny beacuse it cuts a 10 seond thing into 4 seconds, it really is nice convenience.

    It is true. No signature required under $25 for V, MC and Amex contacless cards. Only certain kinds of merchants are authorized to accept pay pass presently ie: movie theaters, video rentals, parking garages, c-stores, food stores, dry cleaners and a few others. As far as the consumer is concerned it is the same as swipng your card except you tap the card against the reader and can choose to get a recepit or no receipt. It is a very fast transaction since it;s usually connected to a IP connection. Card issuing banks are beginning to roll out the cards in a big way in 2006. I hope this helps.
