Online textbooks and hierarchical lessons

In college, I always found myself wishing that textbooks were online so I could search for answers.

I also wished that online textbooks were organized hierarchically with buttons for expanding and collapsing content. For instance, I would like a chapter to be broken into main points, which could be expanded to show sub points, which could be expanded to show examples or stories or statistics.

It would be so much easier to learn from a textbook if I knew which topics I could skip (collapse) and which topics I should thoroughly study (expand).
