Series of posts on Amtrak

This weekend I flew to Sacramento for my cousin’s wedding. I decided to return by train, so I bought an Amtrak ticket and arrived this morning after a 21 hour ride. This week I’m going to write every day about my trip.

The Amtrak Series

  1. I was wondering how it went. I read on the site that there are plugs for the First Class and Business passengers. I’m guessing that you upgraded your ticket.

Looking forward the Series. I suggest a title of AM-PM-AMtrak

  2. Perhaps you & the man in seat 61 can swap notes? http://www.seat61.com/ “Maybe you don’t like flying, or are concerned about air travel’s contribution to global warming. Or perhaps you just prefer real travel by train or ship, where the journey is part of the adventure… Either way, The Man in Seat Sixty-One will tell you how to travel overland comfortably & affordably where you might think that air was now the only option”

What seat were you in Richard?

  3. Brian: I didn’t upgrade my ticket but next time around that would be a great idea. Sleeping in a chair wasn’t ideal.

Carolynn: Are you completely acclimated to planes now? If not, how about a train?

Missy: They don’t assign seats and I don’t remember what seat I was in! I really like the phrase “the journey is part of the adventure”!

  4. Richard,

Still acclimating, but much less of a gap to cross than before. I’ve got a trip to San Francisco this week with 4 flights, so more acclimation to come. ;)

Haven’t ever done the train thing, although, of course I’ve been on Trax & other “trolleys” in California. I’ll have to give it a whirl some time!
