Matt Heaton, CEO of Bluehost, just announced they are going to become a domain registrar. (Currently when you buy a domain name from them you are actually using Wild West Domains/GoDaddy for which Bluehost is a reseller.) I and the people I have referred to Bluehost have spent over $1000. Not bad for a product that cost $8/month.
Matt Heaton also announced support for Ruby on Rails. You can also get PHP5 if you ask for it.
With 10GB of disk space, 250GB of monthly transfer, 6 domains per account, and CPanel, Bluehost really is the best web hosting company I’ve ever seen. Their support has been good too. I suspect they’ll do a great job as a domain registrar, and I look forward to moving all my domain registration business over to them.
Next request for Bluehost: Allow customers with multiple accounts to host sites on separate IP blocks so search engines don’t penalize us for moving all our business to you. Multiple data centers maybe?
Thanks,
Matt
